The brain’s frontal cortex is responsible for higher cognitive functions such as memory, emotions, impulse control, problem-solving, social interaction, and motor function. Its core component, the prefrontal cortex, gives us the ability to foresee future consequences that result from current actions. It is the source of creativity for all achievement.
New brain science reveals that the key to higher intelligence lies in strengthening the prefrontal cortex. We have the power to do it. By keeping our brain actively challenged, focusing relevant information for decision making and actively blocking less relevant information, we can open up unlimited possibility. Most interestingly, the frontal cortex has the ability to separate memory functions from strategic ones – giving us the opportunity to optimize our frontal cognition with effective practice and mastery.
